Glass Rods

Glass Rods are produced from solid borosilicate glass that is perfectly clear offering both heat resistance and durability. The rods are produced in electric fired furnaces, this production method gives a very pure and clear finished product.

Rods are a very versatile product with numerous applications. They come in standard lengths of 1500mm however we are happy to cut these to any length required.  The ends can also be finished according to your request. The glass rods work very well in light fittings, to facilitate this we have the capacity to drill hanging holes to suit your fitting, or they can be used as cut lengths and fitted into a frame.

The rods can be used as a raw material, they can be heated and manipulated in to a variety of shapes, or additionally can be cut into smaller section, heated and then, using mould pressed into shapes. For example, lenses, domes, prism, reflectors, and specialized sight glasses . We can also offer additional anti reflective and diachronic coating as required, for more specialized applications.

Glass Rod can be pressed into a variety of shapes. For example, small light covers, and cats’ eyes. For smaller items, using rods is a cost effective method of producing coloured items
