Rupture Discs – Type BK
Rupture Discs Type BK are cross-scored, full-metal pressure relief devices designed for medium to high-pressure applications, elevated temperatures and significant pressure fluctuations. Manufactured from nickel, Inconel, Hastelloy* or stainless steel, they deliver robust, predictable performance in demanding process environments.
The scoring is precisely machined on the atmosphere side of the disc, while the process-facing side remains smooth to minimise medium adherence and contamination. When the system pressure exceeds the specified set point, the disc opens along the cross-scoring, providing instantaneous pressure relief.
Design & Performance

Installation & Typical Applications
Rupture Discs Type BK are mounted:
- Directly between EN 1092 standard flanges
- Directly between ASME B16.5 standard flanges
- Within the BHS bursting disc holder system
They are widely used as either primary overpressure protection or in combination with safety valves to enhance system reliability in:
- Reactors and process vessels
- Pressure vessels and storage tanks
- Gas cylinders and high-pressure gas systems
