Composite Type C – Overpressure Bursting Disc
Composite Type C – Overpressure bursting discs are engineered for applications requiring high-precision pressure relief at low to medium burst pressures. Using cutting-edge laser machining, predetermined breaking points are cut into stainless steel, nickel, Inconel, Hastelloy* or tantalum foils with remarkable accuracy—allowing for calibrated burst values as low as 20 mbar at 20 °C.
When the permitted operating pressure is exceeded, the disc opens in a segmental, hinge-type, fragment-free pattern. This makes the unit ideal for installation upstream of safety valves and other sensitive downstream equipment. A PTFE or PFA sealing diaphragm is integrated between the precision-slotted metal foils, ensuring chemical resistance and dependable performance up to 200 °C.
