Bursting Plugs

Bursting plugs (rupture plugs) provide a compact, watertight and space-efficient pressure-relief solution where traditional loose bursting discs cannot be clamped or where dead space must be avoided. Their rugged, minimal-footprint design ensures reliable installation even in the most constrained and demanding mounting conditions.

Each plug incorporates a precision-engineered burst foil, welded to a stainless steel plug body using either laser welding or capacitor-discharge welding. The latter is ideal for high-volume production, maintaining consistently high quality and repeatability across large batches. Burst foils are available in Inconel, Hastelloy*, stainless steel, or titanium to support a broad spectrum of operating media and environments.

Optional Burst Monitoring

For enhanced plant protection, bursting plugs can be supplied with an integrated burst monitoring device. If the permissible operating pressure is exceeded, the foil ruptures and the sensor sends an immediate signal to the plant control system, confirming circuit interruption and enabling rapid system shutdown.
