Quartz Glass: High Temperature Glass

Quartz Glass: High Temperature Glass Resistant

Quartz glass is resistant to water and strong acids and low resistance to alkali.

Quartz glass is made from almost pure silica (SiO2 ≥ 99.9%) that makes it a heat proof glass. that makes it a heat proof glass.

Quartz Glass is resistant to water and strong acids (excluding hydrofluoric acid) and low resistance (as compared with other types of glass) to alkali.

Quartz glass has a high melting point and a low coefficient of thermal expansion, which makes it resistant to sudden changes in temperature (thermal shock resistance).

PRINCIPAL QUALITIES

Fused quartz begins to soften at about 1700°C. It can be worked at 1100°C for a long period while for a short period it can endure 1450°C.

Almost no acid react with quartz, except for HF. Due to the construction of pure SiO2, the anti-acid capability of quartz is 30 times better than ceramics, and 150 times better than stainless steel. Its chemical inertia or stabilization is hardly comparable by any other common material.

The thermal expansion coefficient of quartz is so low that it can endure steep temperature change. For example, heat a quartz panel to 1100°C and then immerse it into water at normal temperature, it won’t crack!

Quartz is transparent to wide spectrum, from IR to UV. More than 90% of visible light energy can pass, and more than 80% of UV can pass through.

Resistance of quartz is 10000 times of normal glass. Good insulating performance even at high temperature.

STANDARD UV BLOCK QUARTZ TUBE

Capable of stopping nearly all the radiation if UV-B & UV-C and a big proportion of UV-A. With maximum visible lights, the Ce doped quartz tube can serve as the material of halogen lamps, high density discharge lamps and other UV lights. Thus, it can effectively prevent harm to the skin of people and objects that have to be under explosion of UV radiation and set out the maximum visible light at the same time.

Quartz Panels

Quartz panels are characterized by their transparency to a wide spectrum, including ultraviolet (UV), visible light, and infrared (IR). Quartz panel are also characterized by their stable endurance in high temperature and chemical challenging environments, due to its the low thermal expansion. Due to these capabilities, quartz panel is a qualified optical material in many demanding applications.

Quartz sheet is vertically produced in the factory, subsequently it can be post-processed(cutting, welding, polishing, annealing, etc) into sheet, plate, lens, window, pane, disk, substrate, etc. SiO2 content is above 99.99%, Mons’ hardness scale is 7. More than 90% of visible light can be passed. It can endure high temperature (as high as 1100°C) with a low thermal expansion coefficient. Different shapes such as Prism, lens and disk are available.

Quartz has been widely used in illumination, laser, sterilization, lab equipment, insulator, chemical equipment, heater, etc.
