High-Purity Gas Bursting Discs

Our high-purity gas bursting discs are engineered specifically for VCR® systems, meeting the most demanding requirements for leak-tightness, cleanliness and mechanical resilience. Installed directly in place of sealing discs inside VCR® screw couplings, these precision components provide rapid, reliable protection against overpressure in high-purity gas processes such as gas cabinets and advanced gas-mixing systems.

When excessive pressure occurs, the disc ruptures cleanly and safely—ensuring controlled release without contaminating or compromising the system. Only the disc itself requires replacement after activation, keeping maintenance fast, simple and predictable.

Sizes & Configurations

Standard high-purity gas bursting discs are available as either rupture discs or scored reverse-buckling designs in the following VCR® sizes:

• Ø 12.5 mm – for ¼″ VCR® screw connectors
• Ø 20 mm – for ½″ VCR® screw couplings
• Ø 35 mm – for 1″ VCR® screw couplings

Ultra-High Leak-Tightness

Using advanced laser-welding processes, a precision metal foil is welded between two rings to achieve an exceptionally low helium leak rate of 1×10⁻⁹ mbar·L/s. Each disc undergoes rigorous double helium leak testing to ensure uncompromising purity and system integrity.

High-purity gas bursting discs are manufactured entirely from metal with no polymers, ensuring full compatibility with ultra-clean gas systems and vacuum applications.
